You don’t have to peel with a peel!
A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to peel away the top layers. The skin that grows back after a chemical peel is smoother and younger looking. They can help with fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, texture, acne scars, and large pores (reducing the appearance of both). Depending on your skin, chemical peels can be done at different depths – light, medium, or deep. Each type of chemical peel uses a different chemical solution.
It’s ok to not see visible exfoliation (flaking) after a peel. It can depend on your skin and what build-up you may or may not have. The chemical peel will still create inner change regardless of the depth.
If you do peel, it will usually happen around days 3-5. Resist the urge to pick or pull at peeling skin or you will run the risk of scarring! As with any skin resurfacing, it is important to minimize sun exposure for the first 48 hours following treatment. You will need to use sunscreen with a minimum of 30-SPF, and wear a hat that provides full-face coverage. The sun will intensify any scars or dark spots, driving them deeper into the skin. This is key!
Home care products are vital to producing great results. If you are using products at home that are recommended, then I know exactly how they work together with the peels. This is an important step. Not just for the results but also for the condition of your skin during the series.
